Gender Dysphoria Assessment

“The more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I thrive.”
Elliot Page

I provide holistic, comprehensive, and evidence-based assessments for gender dysphoria as well as readiness for medical or surgical treatment for gender dysphoria. My assessment services are consistent with guidelines outlined by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

The assessment process for gender dysphoria involves a structured clinical interview to assess information including:

  • Personal history, including family history, educational history, functioning in the workplace and in relationships, and medical, legal, and psychiatric history
  • Gender development and expression history
  • Expectations and readiness for treatment
  • Experiences of gender dysphoria and distress
  • Experiences of gender-related oppression
  • Degree of social support and coping strategies
  • Additional clinical information my psychologist deems relevant

Following the structured clinical interview, I will provide a few assessment measures to provide objective data to the assessment.

After the completion of your assessment measures, I will draft a detailed, comprehensive report, including diagnostic considerations and recommendations for next steps, that we will review together in a feedback session. If you have any questions or concerns about your diagnoses, recommendations, or the report, we can address them together to ensure you are comfortable with the final result.
